Panamanian Cuisine
La Fogata
Just a few steps away from the Royal Decameron Resort , this rustic, open air restaurant is a real find. It’s the creation of a “beautiful couple:” Jorg, a Swiss gentleman, and his lovely Panamanian wife Luz.
Luz grew up in the Darien jungle and all her recipes are from her mom. Luz’s cooks with a lot of attention to timing and detail. Her clams and lobster in garlic sauce are the most tender and delicious we have had anywhere.
The most popular dishes are the lobster specials: $40 for one pound and $30 for a half pound, including a salad, shrimp cocktail, coconut rice or fried plantains, dessert and tea or coffee.
For dessert, try her delectable flan.
Note Cash payment only. And in the high season be prepared to wait awhile for your meal to arrive.
Reservations are recommended.
